Our Mission

Symphony Scholars is a student-led nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to music education through free, one-on-one instruction. Based in the Newton, Massachusetts area and serving students across Greater Boston and beyond, our program connects young musicians with dedicated student mentors who are experienced performers in high-level orchestras and ensembles.

Learning music supports far more than technical skill. Through consistent practice and mentorship, students build perseverance, collaboration, confidence, and a strong work ethic. Yet meaningful music education can be difficult to access, as private lessons are often expensive and out of reach for many families.Symphony Scholars was created to help remove these barriers. In addition to providing individualized instruction, we aim to make participation in school orchestra programs more accessible, particularly as many programs begin in the fourth grade. By offering early guidance and ongoing support, we help students feel prepared, confident, and supported as they enter and progress through school music programs.

As a fully student-run organization, Symphony Scholars believes high-quality music education should be available to all students, regardless of financial circumstances. Through mentorship and service, we work to support both musical growth and personal development within our community.
